DIY: Cariocas // Pois

¡Buenas! ya ha pasado la semana crítica de exámenes, asi que voy a procurar preparar varias entradas estas vacaciones para que no me pase lo mismo en el próximo trimestre...

Este año estamos preparando en nuestro instituto un espectáculo para el día de EF en la calle (ya sería el segundo) y va a haber una sección de malabares. Ya os había hablado antes de los palos del diablo, y una amiga mia me comentó que ella sabía andar con las cariocas, pero que no tenia... y como no ¡Tenía que hacer algo!

Hi! I've just finished my exams week... I'm going to try to prepare some entrys this easter holidays so I don't leave the blog abandoned when I start with them again...

This year we're preparing in our high school a little spectacle for the PE day, and there's going to be a part about juggling. I've already talked here about the devil sticks, and one of my friends told me that she knew how to play the pois but she didn't have a pair... and then, of course, I had to do something!!

Aquí os presento una versión rápida y low-cost de unas cariocas. Quedarían más guapas haciendo las pelotas a ganchillo, pero no estaba yo como para ello esta temporada...

This is a low-cost version of pois. They would look better if the balls were kinted, but I didn't have the time...

Los materiales son:

Dos pelotas de tenis

1m de cinta, de los colores que querais

2m de hilo de cola de ratón, también los colores a escoger

Dos arandelas

The materials are:

Two tennis balls

1m of ribbon, of the colous you want

2m of thick thread, again, the colours you want

Two washers

Como el color de las pelotas de tenis son un "poco" llamativas probé a pintarlas con spray. He de decir qe no ha salido demasiado bien, la pintura no agarra bien y mis manos acabaron doradas... pero bueno, al menos no son fosforitas.

I tried to paint the tennis balls with spray paint but it didn't hold well, so I ended up with golden hands... well, at least they aren't bright yellow.

Mientras las pelotas secan hay que cortar a la mitad tanto el hilo como las cintas (cada trozo para cada carioca). Hacemos un nudo con los hilos y los trenzamos y cosemos los lazos a las arandelas (podeis quemar un poco los bordes para que no se deshilachen)

While the paint is drying cut all the threads and ribbons in half, one for each poi. Make a knot with the threads and braid them. Also sew the ribbons to the washers.

 Cuando ya lo tengamos todo hay que pasar el hilo trenzado por la pelota. ¡Tranquilos! si no teneis una macroaguja como la mia podeis usar un palo de estos de hace pinchos morunos. Cuando la hallamos atravesado metemos la arandela y volvemos a pasar el hilo.

Now that everything is ready we have to pass the ribbon throug the ball, insert the washer with the ribbon and pass the braid again.

Para terminar hacemos un nudo y metemos los extremos sobrantes para dentro.

To finish just make a knot with the thread and push the rest into the ball.
